Label-based deployment targeting

Label targeting lets a Group Owner deploy a group configuration to a controlled subset, such as one region or runtime, without creating a separate ownership boundary.

Safety model​

  1. FleetAMP first applies the selected group boundary.
  2. It evaluates exact-match label entries with logical AND.
  3. Managed labels override reported values for the same key.
  4. Preview shows the resolved collector count before submission.
  5. FleetAMP stores the selector and target snapshot with the request.
  6. Approval rechecks the selector to prevent authorization or membership changes from silently widening the deployment.

An empty selector means all collectors in the group. A selector matching zero collectors cannot be deployed accidentally; review the preview and validation result.

Example​

Within the checkout / production / eu group, this selector targets only Kubernetes collectors in the west region:

region: eu-west
runtime: kubernetes

Collectors in other groups are never considered, even if their labels match.
