Configuration versions

FleetAMP authors configuration at the group level. Collector-level version creation is intentionally unavailable so every change follows the same ownership, validation, approval, and audit controls.

Create a version​

Open Groups & Labels, select a group, and choose Create configuration version. The editor starts with the latest saved version. No new version is created until content changes and validation succeeds.

  • Validate and preview validates without saving and shows the previous/new diff, warnings, selector, and affected Collector count.
  • Validate and save version validates and stores an immutable new version.

Administrators may edit all supported sections. Group Owners may edit only sections permitted by Administration → Config policies. FleetAMP rejects an otherwise valid document when it changes a prohibited section.

Validation gates​

Validation runs while authoring, before request submission, and again before approval. It covers syntax, component references, pipeline structure, policy boundaries, and target resolution. Failed validation cannot be submitted for approval.

Saving a version does not deploy it. Submit it through the approval workflow.
