Administrator guide
Administrators establish FleetAMP's security and operating boundaries. Complete the platform installation and initial administrator setup before delegating group work.
Administrator responsibilities
- secure the FleetAMP HTTP and OpAMP endpoints;
- manage users, roles, and group ownership;
- create governance boundaries and prevent overlapping membership;
- configure secret storage and repository integrations;
- review or delegate approvals;
- operate upgrades, backups, recovery, and troubleshooting;
- verify audit evidence and release readiness.
Recommended journey
- Install FleetAMP for the selected platform.
- Complete the first sign-in and security setup described in the installation guide.
- Apply production deployment, security hardening, and transport TLS.
- Configure access control.
- Create ownership groups and assign Group Owners using Groups, Labels, and Group Owners.
- Configure encrypted group secrets.
- Connect the first OpenTelemetry Collector.
- Configure optional GitOps integrations.
- Monitor the audit log.
- Use the operations guide and troubleshooting guide for ongoing support.
Delegation model
Administrators retain platform-wide authority. Group Owners receive only the groups assigned to them, and requesters cannot approve their own governed changes. Moving a Collector between groups requires authority over both ownership boundaries.
